I’ve heard it and said it myself:  “God showed up big!” or “God showed up and showed out!”  Now, when I hear these phrases, I stop and think:  “But isn’t God always big?”  Our Almighty God is so much more than our feelings or what we may see happening in life’s circumstances.  We are refreshed in His presence and there are times when we are more surrendered to and quiet before Him. (Acts 3:20) I believe this can translate into us feeling His love, peace, and strength more at certain moments, but this has more to do with us, not Him.  He is God, and He is always big!

God’s Spirit lives inside each believer. (1 Corinthians 3:16)  The truth is that He is in our gatherings, big or small, and whatever He does is always good and right. (“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” -1 John 1:5)  Through Jesus, we now have 24 hour access to the Father and can come boldly before the throne of grace. (Hebrews 4:16)

It is so hard for me to wrap my mind around, but the truth is that God was “big” during the Holocaust; He is “big” when we say good-bye to a loved one; and, He shows up “big” in our darkest moments…yes, even then.  We currently live in a fallen earth, but God does not change.  And, one day, we will see Him face to face and He will wipe away every tear. (Revelation 21:4)  I don’t believe that we can even comprehend the awe of that day and how “BIG” He will be to each of us.
